Matt Duchene in his little time in the NHL has made a big impact. Upon scoring his first NHL goal on October 1st 2009, he has been very productive. His first major accompishment was being named to the Avalanche in his rookie season. The next was being named the NHL rookie of the month in December 2009. He had an oustanding rookie season, gathering himself consideration for NHL rookie of the year, though he ended up third in voting, as Tyler Myers of the Buffalo Sabres, took the award. Duchene lead the Avs to the playoffs,  finishing with 3 assists after losing to the Sharks.  The Avs have not been so successful this season, though Duchene has a had a very productive season so far. Making the all-Star team in 2011. Compeitng in the All-Star competition and game, scoring a goal and taking a penalty shot. Duchene is a leader for the Avs, and could soon become the face of the franchise.
