Matt Duchene plays for the Colorado Avalanche, based out Denver, Colorado. Colorado plays in the NorthWest  division of the Western conference. The team was originally founded in 1972 out of Quebec as the Nordiques, before moving to Colorado in 1995. The Avalanche have won eight division titles and went to the playoffs in each of their first 10 seasons in Denver, with the streak ending in 2007. The Avalanche are the only team to win a Stanley Cup a year after relocation. From 1995 untill 1999, the Avalanche played their home games at McNichols Sports Arena, before moving to the Pepsi Center in 1999.  The Avalanche have won two stanley cups, in 1996 and 2001.
