In  2006-07 with the central Ontario Wolves of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association in 52 games played he recorded 69 goals with 37 assists for 106 points, and 36 penalty minutes. The following season with the Brampton battalions duchene in 64 games played recorded 30 goals with 20 assists, good for 50 points, and 22 penalty minutes. the following sesason Duchene improved greatly with 31 goals and 48 assists, good for a spectacular 79 pouints, and 42 penalty minutes, in only 57 games played. He led his team to the playoffs helping them with 14 goals and 12 assists good for 26 points, along with 21 penalty minutes in 21 games. He helped his team reach the final before falling to the Windsor Spitfires. It was with this play Duchene was taken 3rd overall by the Avalanche in 2009.
